New gift shop on Navarre Beach gets approvalBy Louis CooperPNJ.com

A Navarre Realtor will get the chance to redevelop a commercial property on Navarre Beach.

The Santa Rosa County Commission voted 4-0 Tuesday to enter into negotiations with Dorothy Slye for a lease of the old Tom Thumb at 8228 Gulf Blvd., so she can open a gift shop.

The county controls all leases on Navarre Beach.

Slye’s shop would include gifts, art, bait and tackle, wireless Internet access and refreshments. In her proposal, she offered the county $18,000 per year in rent, plus 5 percent of gross sales.
