New NYIGF Bookstore Features Gourmet-Focused Authors

A brand new feature at this summer’s New York International Gift Fair® (NYIGF®) – the NYIGF Bookstore, sponsored by Artisan, a division of Workman Publishing, and Gourmet Insider – will highlight gourmet-related authors and their works. The NYIGF Bookstore will offer more than 25 cooking and design titles, including new launches, best-sellers and top authors, as well as daily author appearances, book signings and related seminars.

“The NYIGF Bookstore, and participation by cooking, dining and entertaining authors, is a great complement to the return of the Gourmet Housewares Show® at NYIGF this summer,” said Christian Falkenberg, NYIGF director and GLM vice president. “We’re excited to host author appearances, book signings and educational seminars at NYIGF in connection with this special feature.”

NYIGF attendees will be able to make cash and carry purchases for 30% off retail and will receive discounts of up to 57% off wholesale orders. As an added bonus, on Sunday, Monday and Tuesday, retailers can register at the NYIGF Bookstore to win a free round-trip to one of the destinations in Workman Publishing’s best-selling book 1,000 Places to See Before You Die.

Author appearances and book signings will take place in the NYIGF Bookstore located on the Javits Center’s North Concourse. The schedule includes: Alice Medrich, author of Sinfully Easy Delicious Desserts, on Sunday, August 19; Shax Riegler, author of DISH: 813 Colorful, Wonderful Dinner Plates, on Monday, August 20; and Katie Workman, The Mom 100 Cookbook: 100 Recipes Every Mom Needs in Her Back Pocket, on Tuesday, August 21. Author appearances, which will be held from 2:00-2:45PM, are free and do not require advance registration.

Three related seminars will be offered in connection with the NYIGF Bookstore: “Read It and Reap! Increasing Profits with Gift Books,” on Sunday, August 19, will address ways in which retailers can expand their merchandise mix and boost sales with gift books. Presenters include Marilyn Barnett of Artisan and Workman Publishing and Alice Medrich, author of Sinfully Easy Delicious Desserts. As an added bonus, all seminar registrants are eligible to win one of four free books.

Gourmet Insider will host in-depth interview sessions with authors Shax Riegler, on Monday, August 20; and Katie Workman, on Tuesday, August 21. Riegler, features editor of House Beautiful and author of DISH: 813 Colorful, Wonderful Dinner Plates, will address how plates bring color, art, and craftsmanship to a table. Workman, the founding editor in chief of Cookstr.com, author of The Mom 100 Cookbook and mother of two, will offer solutions to the 20 most common cooking dilemmas that every modern mom faces, providing recipes and tips for parents.

These sessions will be presented from 3:00-4:00PM in the Javits Center’s Room 1C04. There is a nominal fee for seminar registration and advance reservations are recommended. Seminar tickets, priced at $20 advance and $25 onsite, can be reserved online www.nyigf.com/programs.
