NYIGF Extends Online Presence With Blog and E-Newsletter

In an extension of its online activities, the New York International Gift Fair® (NYIGF®) will resume twice-weekly blog posts and weekly e-newsletters, beginning Tuesday, October 9, and running through the opening of the winter 2013 NYIGF, January 26-30, at New York City’s Jacob K. Javits Convention Center and Passenger Ship Terminal Piers 92 & 94. Now entering its second year, the NYIGF’s 100 Days of Design blog – accessible at www.100DaysofDesign.com – is supplemented by NYnow, a new weekly e-newsletter which previews key products featured at NYIGF and interesting New York City attractions.

“The 100 Days of Design blog showcases NYIGF’s design-driven products and gives voice to the designers connected with the New York market,” said Christian Falkenberg, NYIGF director and GLM vice president. “The weekly e-newsletter extends our communication to NYIGF participants – retailers, exhibitors and press – and generates excitement about New York City as a tradeshow destination.”

Each week leading up to NYIGF, the blog will spotlight different product categories – including accessories, tabletop, craft, home furnishings, personal care and more – as well as overall gift, home and lifestyle market trends, such as sustainability and “made in the USA.” On Tuesdays, posts will feature product introductions, as well as related New York City attractions such as exhibitions and attractions, hot restaurants, intriguing shops and other distinctive experiences. On Thursdays, invited guest authors will offer perspectives and predictions, which are relevant to each week’s theme.

Guest blog post contributors this season will include: Anna Kallett of Andean Collection; Dave Baer of Blithe and Bonny; Abby Jones of Chan Luu; Evy Jacob of Evy Jacob; Beata Henrichs of HedgeHouse; Mary Jurek of Mary Jurek Design Inc.; and Mary Winters of Zutano.

Each Monday, NYnow, a weekly e-newsletter, will summarize the products, places, and guest authors featured in the prior week’s blog, with direct links to the full online content. The e-newsletter also will include additional NYIGF news and information, such seminars, events and displays, which is relevant to the theme.

At the conclusion of the winter 2013 NYIGF, both the 100 Days of Design blog and NYnow will feature a collection of NYIGF reports from notable bloggers, trend-watchers and design influencers. It will recap market happenings and share NYIGF highlights from the blogosphere.

NYIGF is the nation’s premier gift, home and lifestyle marketplace, with 2,800 exhibiting companies featuring an extraordinary breadth and depth of design-driven home fashion products and complementary giftware. The winter market takes place Saturday January 26, through Wednesday, January 30, 2013, at New York City’s Jacob K. Javits Convention Center and Passenger Ship Terminal Piers 92 and 94. Some 35,000 attendees from all 50 states and more than 85 countries worldwide are expected. Information and registration is available online at www.nyigf.com.
