The raucous, five-time Tony Award® nominated Broadway musical Rock of Ages will be the featured “Night on Broadway” show during the winter 2012 edition of the New York International Gift Fair® (NYIGF®). As part of this popular NYIGF after-hours event, market participants can purchase tickets – specially priced at $99 each – for the Monday, January 30, performance.
“Rock of Ages is incredibly funny and an absolute blast,” said Dorothy Belshaw, NYIGF director and GLM senior vice president. “This hit musical comedy experience should not be missed.”
Tickets for the Monday, January 30, performance, which normally are priced at $140, cost just $99 each, with the difference being absorbed by NYIGF. Tickets for NYIGF’s Night on Broadway featuring Rock of Ages are available for purchase online after November 1 atwww.nyigf.com/programs.
Rock of Ages is set in 1987, when Drew (Dan Domenech), a boy from South Detroit, meets small-town girl Sherrie (Rebecca Faulkenberry) along the famed Sunset Strip of Los Angeles, where they’ve gone in search of stardom. The musical features 28 of the top rock music hits of the 1980s (Don’t Stop Believing, We Built this City, The Final Countdown, Wanted Dead of Alive, Here I Go Again, Can’t Fight This Feeling and I Want To Know What Love Is) from artists such as Styx, Journey and Twisted Sister.
In addition to two Drama League nominations and two Outer Critics Circle Award nominations, Rock of Ages was nominated for five 2009 Tony Awards: best musical, best performance by a leading actor in a musical, best direction of a musical, best costume design and best sound design. Touring productions have been rolled out throughout the U.S., as well as in Melbourne and London, and a major motion film is in development.
Rock of Ages is playing at New York City’s Helen Hayes Theatre at 240 West 44th Street. More details are available online at http://www.rockofagesmusical.com/.
