NYIGF’S “Night On Broadway” Features Sister Act

The Tony nominations, announced this week, include SISTER ACT in five categories, including the coveted “Best Musical,” “Best Original Score,” and “Best Book of a Musical.” Cast members Patina Miller and Victoria Clark also were nominated in the categories of “Best Actress” and “Best Featured Actress,” respectively.

Based on the hit motion picture, SISTER ACT features an original score by eight-time Oscar® and ten-time Grammy Award® winner Alan Menken (Little Shop of Horrors, The Little Mermaid, Enchanted) and direction by four-time Tony Award® winner Jerry Zaks (La Cage aux Folles, Guys and Dolls.)
SISTER ACT is the humorous story of disco diva Deloris Van Cartier (Olivier Award nominee Patina Miller), who witnesses a crime and is placed in a convent for her protection. Disguised as “Sister Mary Clarence,” Deloris has trouble at first adjusting to life under the strict rule of Mother Superior (Tony Award winner Victoria Clark), but when she transforms the convent’s choir into a popular musical act, Deloris forms a lasting bond with her newfound friends.
