Opening G&J Glassworks fulfills dream
Making art personal to the receiver is just what new Sturgeon Bay business owners Jim and Gale Dufrane are all about.
Their storefront gallery and studio, G&J Glassworks, opened for its first week of business just over a week ago, and the couple is feeling right at home on Madison Avenue.
G&J Glassworks features the art of Jim DuFrane as well as other artists’ work on consignment — both local and national. Whether searching for something as small as a wine stopper, Christmas ornament or glass top, as large as a cast-glass sculpture or lamp shade or something in between like a personalize picture frame, G&J Glassworks offers plenty of handmade art with the option to personalize most items.
“Our scope for this place is to have nice giftware … everything handcrafted by an artist in this country,” Jim DuFrane said. The only exception is fine, lead-free crystal wine and drink-ware created by an artist in Poland. “If you are looking for an affordable memory of your time here or a special gift, we certainly have that. It is a nice variety of things and probably something for everything with the custom nature of everything we do.”
