Pressman Toy Licenses WaveLength Board Game for U.S. Specialty and Mass Market Retailers
New York, NY – Pressman Toy Corporation, known for delighting families for decades with classic games and innovative licensed products, has signed an agreement with Good Marketing, Inc., for WaveLength, the game in which players rank, match and score to determine, “Are you and your partner on the same WaveLength?” Appropriate for adults and teens, the game includes more than one thousand pop culture questions about movies, television, music, sports, history, politics, geography, and even household goods. Pressman Toy’s version of WaveLength will be available at specialty retailers in the U.S. beginning spring 2010 and at mass market retailers in 2011. It will retail for $24.99.
Invented by Ed Greenberger, a television sportscaster, and friend Stan Loveman, WaveLength has been widely popular in Canada. The game has also won several national and International awards, including an iParenting, National Parenting Center, Major Fun, Dr. Toy and Canadian Toy Testing Council’s Best Bet award.
“WaveLength is a great game because it’s fast-paced, all teams get to play every round, and there are no wrong answers,” said Jim Pressman, president, Pressman Toy Corporation. “We’re really excited to add WaveLength to our portfolio of games.”
WaveLength Game Play:
The game is designed for four or more players. Players organize into teams of two players each. Each person on the team is given a scoring pad. On their turn, a team will draw a card and then roll two dice—one determines the theme for that round, the other die, indicates how many points their total answers are worth. Once the timer starts, all players in the game have 60 seconds in which to write down the first five answers that come to mind and to rank their answers in the order in which they think their teammate would have thought of the same answer. Players get one point for having the same answer, and another point if the answer is ranked in the same order.
For example, if the category is “yellow food,” one teammate could write down pineapple, banana, corn, lemon, and cheese, and then rank them 5,1,2,4, and 3, respectively. The other teammate may have written down banana, corn, squash, eggs, and lemon, and then ranked them 1, 2, 5, 4, and 3, respectively. The team would earn three points for both players thinking of banana, corn and lemon. They’d also get another two points for ranking banana and corn the same. If the scoring die indicates a 2X, the team’s total score of five would become 10 and their pawn would move 10 spaces on the game board. The first team that proves they are on the same wavelength by making it to “Finish” wins.
