Rennie & Rose Clothing and Home Goods Offer Artistry, Functionality, and Flair

Pittsfield, Mass. – Whether one’s taste leans toward striking geometric patterns, whimsical prints, or rich, fine-art inspired tapestries, Rennie & Rose designs offer countless choices to complement any home or wardrobe.

Beyond their diverse product range, however, Rennie & Rose designs also feature the work of some of North America’s most notable artists, creating a selection of goods that are truly 100% ‘made in the USA,’ from conception to completion.

This year, Rennie & Rose will make their New York International Gift Fair debut with accessories, apparel, and their growing ‘At Home’ collection. Each collection showcases the work of one of six American artists, including Arts and Crafts-era inspired designs by Frank Lloyd Wright® that have been added to the Rennie & Rose product line through an exclusive agreement with the Frank Lloyd Wright Foundation.

In addition to their own designs, the 2010 Rennie & Rose Featured Artists are:

Frank Lloyd Wright ®
Frank Lloyd Wright® is recognized worldwide as one of the greatest architects of the twentieth century. He believed that a house became more of a home by becoming a work of art as well, and the Rennie & Rose Frank Lloyd Wright® collection reflects this belief in functional and elegant pieces for the home, ranging from table runners and placemats to storage accessories. These products are authorized by the Frank Lloyd Wright Foundation in Scottsdale, Ariz. A portion of the proceeds from these products supports the foundation’s conservation and education programs.

Alan Claude
Graphic designer Alan Claude married his wife in the shadow of Marshall Point Light in Maine, and continued his passion in the creation of these prints, found on totes, pillows, and blankets. His work, influenced by American realist painter Edward Hopper and the iconic European travel posters of the 1920s, is created through a blend of various media ranging from pen & ink to digital illustration. Claude’s Lighthouse Collection Series features several national historic sites found along North American coasts.

Dard Hunter
Active in the Arts and Crafts movement, William Joseph ‘Dard’ Hunter was an authority on printing and papermaking, among other talents, throughout his career in the early to mid-1900s. His legacy, now maintained by his family at the historic Mountain House in Chillicothe, Ohio, stretches across all media from pottery and jewelry to stained glass and furniture. Rennie & Rose uses Hunter’s work in even more ways, featuring his iconic designs on pillows, placemats, table runners, and throw blankets.

E.C. Stewart
Founded by illustrator Elizabeth (Lisa) Stewart, ECStewart Designs combine elegant illustrations with Arts and Crafts backgrounds. Rennie & Rose features Stewart’s PureBreed, CalligraphyPets, and Paisley motifs on totes, throw blankets, table runners, handbags, and more, offering a practical way to enjoy Stewart’s award-winning imagery.

Susan Mariconda
A pottery expert as well as a designer, Susan Mariconda’s illustrations bring a sense of timeless beach serenity to every eclectic piece. Totes, pillows, throws, and other pieces showcase the beauty of seaside scenes in tones of pink and blue, with a colorful touch that only a life-long artist could create.

Motawi Tileworks
Nawal Motawi, founder of Motawi Tileworks, has found inspiration and depth in the ideas, aesthetics and production techniques of the Arts and Crafts period. Instead of attempting to duplicate works of the past, the studio instead creates new work that embodies some of the same design principles and intangible qualities as those early works. Tote bags and home accessories carry these new designs at Rennie & Rose.

Rennie & Rose is based in the Berkshire hills of Massachusetts, and has been in business since 1989. Founded by the mother and daughter team Charlotte Rennie and Lisa Rose, the company began with sewing sessions at a kitchen table, and maintains a commitment to fine workmanship and responsible manufacturing. Fashions and home goods are made with Malden Mills fleece, for example, which is also made in part with recycled plastics. One jacket uses the equivalent of about 25 two-liter bottles in its construction.
