Retailers See Burst of Holiday Shopping
Rankin, MS – Rankin County stores saw a large influx of Christmas shoppers over the weekend, as the days drifted toward Dec. 25 For workers at Apple Annie’s Gift Shop off Grants Ferry Road, that meant stocking up on supplies and preparing for some busy days.
“It is crazy wild in here,” said Sue Lytle, an employee at the popular gift store. “Saturday (Dec. 10) was so busy that the employees didn’t have time to breathe.”
Owner Ann Fryant said she will triple her working staff over the last few days of Christmas shopping to help serve the expected large crowds.
“We are a community store,” Fryant said of her gift shop, which also has a location in Madison. “So we get a lot of support from the community. And we’re all very thankful for our customers.”
