Spring spending: Retailers see Easter boon
Local shoppers spend more money on food during Christmas than any other week of the year.
But Easter is a close second. Easter, according to Al Blackburn, director of Cadillac’s Meijer Store, is the second biggest week of the year for food sales.
As local stores stock their shelves with chocolate Easter bunnies, colorful Easter eggs and spring dresses, national retailers pay close attention to our shopping habits during religious holidays.
Even though Christians state that Easter is their most important holiday of the year, Christmas is by far the season when Americans spend the most dollars.
