Retailers See Revenue Surge
People aren’t just getting out more to enjoy the warmer weather; they’re getting out more and shopping.
A boost in local and national retail sales figures is proof of that.
Hattiesburg retail spots including Eve Marie’s Boutique, {click} boutique and gallery and Lovie’s Tea Bar and Gift Boutique all have noticed an uptick in sales.
April Bullock, owner of Eve Marie’s, said her numbers for April are higher than the previous month’s.
“People are out shopping and getting really excited about the good weather and getting out of the slump of the cold weather we had,” Bullock said.
Nationally, retail revenue surged in April, helped by a late Easter holiday. The gains build on a trend that began late last year. But higher gas prices threaten to cut into consumers’ spending power.
