A new limited edition Artist Series is being introduced by Schmutzerland at the New York International Gift Fair at the Jacob Javitz Center in New York on January 26th – 29th at booth #5005. Featuring “Sunflowers” by Dion Hitchings and “Faces of Japan” by Melissa Rubin, these unique and colorful pendant necklaces will come specially boxed, with a signed and numbered artists bio card. Each piece will be in Schmutzerland’s “Simple Silver” setting, which is a silver oxidized process that gives each piece a classic look. Available with a 16″ or 24″ chain and mounted on a distinctive card, which enhances the value and collectability of the jewelry, this collection offers new and exciting possibilities for the Schmutzerland line.

Melissa Rubin, who is an artist from Rockaway, NY remarked, “I am thrilled to be joining Schmutzerland as they launch their new ‘Artist Series’. Seeing my images, from my ‘Faces of Japan’ series, in their signature cabochon setting, brings out the energy, colors and spirit of the original pieces.” Melissa was awarded a Japan Fulbright Art Teacher Grant, to tour Japan. While there, her experience served as the inspiration for her “Faces of Japan” series.

Dion Hitchings, an artist and owner of the Outsider Art Gallery in Frenchtown, NJ, is a visionary, who draws inspiration from everyday happenings to the Jerry Springer Show. His vivid renderings of Sunflowers are as thought provoking as they are striking to look at. Bonnie Berish, partner and art director of Schmutzerland said, “The first time I met Dion, I knew he was a special person with special artistic abilities. I was immediately intrigued by his drawing style and knew his work would be a perfect fit for a Schmutzerland jewelry line.”

Along with their extensive line of images that feature everything from famous personalities, botanicals, nostalgia, curios, insects, vintage engravings, feathers and vintage maps, Schmutzerland works closely with retailers and other organizations to create lines that are exclusive to them. Schmutzerland has created exclusive lines for Temple University, Pennsylvania Ballet, The National Cowgirl Museum and Hall of Fame, Modcloth, Blake & Co, in Orleans, MA. and Kanibal Home in Jersey City, NJ just to name a few.

The whimsical nature of Schmutzerland’s designs promotes its appeal to a broad spectrum of clientele, who find they are great pieces to wear, whether they are dressing up or dressing down. Available in necklaces, earrings, rings, brooches, hairpins and cufflinks.
