Shop Owner Builds Long-time Business
La Crescent, MN – Apple Valley Gifts is the kind of place where the receipts are still hand-written.
By September, the gift shop, now comfortably ensconced in a quaint house on Main Street, a stone’s throw away from the public library and city hall, will have been run by Ellen Mades for 31 years.
“I’m sure there are a lot of people in La Crescent now who know there’s something here, but they’ve never ventured in,” Mades said.
