‘Shop Small’ Effort Helps Main Street Retailers
Newark, DE – During times when the University of Delaware is closed, Newark tends to be quiet. But on Saturday, even with students home for Thanksgiving break, Main Street was bustling as eager shoppers like Susan and Dennis Collett got a jump on their holiday shopping.
The Colletts clutched bags full of purchases from several downtown retailers as they browsed Christmas ornaments at the Heart and Home gift shop.
“It’s a beautiful day in Newark,” Susan said.
