‘Twas the day after Christmas, and even warnings of a snowstorm didn’t stop area stores from making a last-minute shopping push.

At Harford Mall, Santa’s area was all packed up with care, while visions of post-holiday sales undoubtedly danced in the heads of bargain hunters.

On Monday, Charlotte Russe clothing shop was one of the many stores still sporting a “Blowout Sale” sign in its windows and advertising 50 percent discounts.

Ashley Ferguson, associate manager at Charlotte Russe, said the post-Christmas traffic drove up sales to three times that of a normal Sunday.

“It was a lot less trying on [clothes]; it was a lot more purchasing and returning,” she said, adding that last year, the shopping came more in spurts and petered out before Christmas.

“This year it went up a lot more the closer it got to Christmas. There were a lot more last-minute shoppers, too,” she said.

Ferguson said there were a lot of people with gift cards, which some other store employees also noticed. Ashley Gray, store manager of Hollister clothing store, said Monday that business was definitely up the day after Christmas.
