Sky of Blue Press & Papery opens flagship studio, retail location
Sky of Blue Press & Papery, formerly known as Sky of Blue Cards, a San Francisco Bay Area-based letterpress greeting card and stationery company, opened its flagship retail and workshop space, which also serves as a design and letterpress printing studio.
The retail space is located at 411 Dondee Way, Suite C, Pacifica, California.
“My dream has always been to open a retail and workshop space that also provides us enough room to design our products and print them on our vintage 1942 Chandler & Price letterpress,” said Karla Ebrahimi-Camens, founder, CEO and chief designer of Sky of Blue Press & Papery.
Sky of Blue has been producing beautiful stationery since 2008. Until now, it has been from Ebrahimi-Camens’ in-home studio and garage press room, formerly located in Menlo Park, California. Last year, she and her family relocated from Menlo Park to Moss Beach, California.
“After we moved to the coastside, it took a year to find the ideal location for our flagship shop,” Ebrahimi-Camens said. “I knew my patience would pay off. We found the perfect spot in Rockaway Beach, a charming little ocean-front enclave of Pacifica.”
Sky of Blue Press & Papery will continue to accept wholesale and website orders but now offers an in-person retail experience in their new shop showcasing their greeting cards, stationery, other paper products, as well as small gift items and an upcoming luxury candle line. There will also be a new focus on designing and letterpress-printing wedding and event invitations.
They aim to be a top destination in the Bay Area for wedding invitations, where brides can meet in Sky of Blue Press & Papery’s elegant studio, place a bespoke order or choose from an available set of wedding designs, which will launch in early 2024.
“My favorite design work has always been custom wedding invitations,” Ebrahimi-Camens said. “I wanted to provide a warm and welcoming venue where brides and grooms and their families can meet with me over a glass of champagne or a cup of tea. Together we can browse our wedding samples while they share their vision so that we can begin designing pieces that set the tone for their special day and tell their unique story.”
Upcoming workshops
Sky of Blue Press & Papery will also offer workshops every other Saturday starting on Nov. 25. Creatives and makers alike will be able to consult the monthly schedule and register for the workshops online.
“I envision a creative salon where people of all levels, abilities and experience can come together for a relaxing afternoon to create and learn something new,” Ebrahimi-Camens said. “Everyone will leave our workshops with a piece they’ve made, having acquired a new skill and a wonderful memory of the day.”
Sky of Blue Press & Papery will lead workshops in letterpress printing, watercolor painting, candle making, calligraphy and more. They hope to partner with other coastside businesses to host inspiring workshops in their new studio that include dried flower arranging, wreath making and succulent container planting.
Workshops will also be available for group buy-outs for such events as bridal showers, baby showers and team-building gatherings.
“When I think about the possibilities for our new studio and retail space I get so excited. Ultimately, I wanted to bring a bright, cheery and friendly place to the area, where people desiring a creative afternoon can come in for a workshop, and where the local community will think of visiting when they need a card or a gift,” Ebrahimi-Camens said. “I also dreamed of establishing a destination for brides across the Bay Area to come in-person, or work with me remotely, to order their wedding invitations, knowing they will be well taken care of while their perfect pieces are designed and printed in the weeks to come.”
