Small Business Saturday Set for November 26
Naperville, IL – Right in the midst of towns across the country are business districts of hometown shops and services. Some see them as the backbone of America. And in order to celebrate these institutions, Saturday, November 26 has been designated Small Business Saturday, a day to support local businesses that create jobs, boost the economy, and preserve neighborhoods and a way of life.
Shopping is such a national obsession as the holidays approach, that certain days have taken on new labels. First there was Black Friday, then Cyber Monday and now, repeating its inaugural program of last year, is Small Business Saturday, part of a national movement to steer shoppers to local merchants across the U.S.
Including in Naperville, where Becky Anderson is an owner of her family’s bookstore, Anderson’s Bookshop, 123 W. Jefferson Ave. Anderson also serves as part of IndieBound Naperville, the group working to promote local businesses, and is currently President of the American Booksellers Association, which is made up of independent booksellers nationwide.
