Baby gift shop opens doors
Maryland – A new shop opened its doors two week ago in Historic Ellicott City, and it just might get you to forget your worries. At the very least, a visit to Little Sunshine Trading Company will bring out more than a few expressions of “isn’t that cute.”
The store, located on Main Street opposite the intersection of Old Columbia Pike and Frederick Road, has a selection of items for babies to toddlers, which will delight, whether you are looking for a special baby gift or just that extra something for your own baby.
Shannon Pastras and Marissa Jonner, co-owners of Little Sunshine Trading Company, said they have stocked the store with high quality baby items, reasonably priced — most between $15 and $50 — and most of all, fun to give and receive.
A pillow from the hug-a-pet line is the current favorite of Pastras. It is a pink mouse with ears of leopard fabric and was the store’s first sale.
“It’s cuddly and soft,” Pastras said. It sells for $17.
There are wooden sushi sets, zebra stripped diaper covers, and bibs in the shape of surfboards.
Baby blankets, priced from $45 to $70, are some of the more popular items, Pastras said. People like the soft, cuddly feel and fabric selection in the line of blankets, from the blue velvet blanket with white roses and trimmed in brown silk ruffles to the leopard-corded blanket.
“Their line of clothes is really smartly designed and the fabrics are great,” said Evan Waltman, who stopped in after spotting the store from the rack of clothes on the balcony.
