Las Vegas Design Center to host ‘Sustainable Footprints’

(LAS VEGAS)——Track down the latest information on eco-friendly floor coverings and design at Las Vegas Design Center’s premiere ‘Sustainable Footprints’ event on Wednesday, December 10, 2008, open to trade professionals and connoisseurs of design.

The Sustainable Footprints event takes place from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. at Las Vegas Design Center, 495 S. Grand Central Parkway, on the World Market Center Las Vegas home furnishings campus.

Randy Wells, Vice President of Las Vegas Design Center, said, “More and more, the environment is becoming an integral component of the design process, and both designers and their customers want to learn more about how they can incorporate sustainable flooring into their projects and homes. Those attending Sustainable Footprints will have a rare opportunity to hear from award-winning designer, Clodagh, who is an innovator and leader in environmental design. And, they’ll have the opportunity to attend rug-specific special events in our Las Vegas Design Center showrooms.”

Beginning at 10:30 a.m., Clodagh of New York-based Clodagh Design will present “Your Home, Your Sanctuary, and Design Sustainability” in the Las Vegas Design Center Seminar Room in Building C, C-316. This event will highlight commercial design trends and sustainability through her designs along with an overview on making your home a sanctuary through sustainable design.

During her 25-year career in New York, Clodagh has tried to consider every facet of the design process for both commercial and residential projects. Constantly striving to be as mindful as possible in all of her business ventures, she tries to minimize and be aware of her carbon footprint. Clodagh is known as a leader in using sustainable materials and practices as well as choosing to join forces with like-minded designers in a pursuit of low-environmental-impact design.

Following her seminar, Clodagh will be signing copies of her new book in the Tufenkian Artisan showroom, showroom C-176.

Her book, published by Rizzoli, illustrates these design methods in the home by suggesting that readers think of their spaces in a whole new way. Clodagh’s writing features concise ideas and tips for making your home a personal refuge plus a useful glossary of green-friendly terms and ideas, not to mention her “no-buy” design solutions that offer solutions without monetary investment.

Following the event, an afternoon chocolate and dessert reception will be held in M Luxury Living/Masterlooms, Building C, showroom C-125, from 12 noon to 5 p.m. Patrick Sims, Director of West Coast Operations for M Luxury Living, will share his expertise and William Pinckard, a certified rug specialist and rug appraiser, will be available to answer questions about how to care for fine rugs as well as eco-friendly dyes.

The carpets are made mostly of wool and wooled silk and are made in India, Sims said. “It’s art for the floor.” The showroom will preview new product designs that will debut at the February Las Vegas Market. “Everything is moving in the eco-friendly direction,” Sims said, adding that the showroom will offer drawings for prizes, including massage packages.
