Like Dublin’s historic district is undergoing a renaissance, Christopher Krupa and Michael Smith are bringing about a renaissance of their own.

“We feel there are no wonderful gift stores anymore, like the ones we remember growing up,” Krupa said from their store, Thalia and Dahlia, located at 113 S. High St. in Historic Dublin.

The store is named for their two feline “children.”

“We adopted two girl kittens in April, and they are sisters,” Krupa said.

The store is set in a cottage from the 1800s, and offers a wide variety of gifts, tabletop items, seasonal decor and one of a kind wreaths and arrangements, featuring many American and European artists.

“We’ve actually become friends with most of them,’ Krupa said.

“We were both designers for The Curio Cabinet and Christmas Village of Olde Worthington, but we live in Dublin,” Krupa said.

Prior to his tenure with The Curio Cabinet and Christmas Village, which closed not long ago, Smith worked for Marshall Fields.
