Olive Home: New shop features gourmet food, giftsBy Fran SikorskiAcorn-Online.com

When partners Fernando Pereyra and William King opened The Olive Market on Main Street in Georgetown eight years ago, they also had a vision of continuing to expand gourmet and gift services.

That time has come as The Olive Home, developed in a space vacated by Fisk & Company, became available, but the decision was made with a sadness. William King died a year ago in September and requested that his partner continue to expand The Olive Market, which has been successful through the years.

Originally from Uruguay, Fernando Pereyra said he considered returning to his native country, but considering the promises he had made to his partner, decided to move ahead.

With the encouragement of friends and supporters, he created The Olive Home, featuring gifts from every corner of the world. The new shop, which had a soft opening and reception on Aug. 15, is connected to The Olive Market by a French door entrance in the center of the store, allowing customers to walk easily from one shop to the other. Featured are attractive and functional handbags by Jane Marvel, linens, a baby gift corner, candles, chandeliers, glassware, serving accessories, and art by Redding artist Erin Nazzaro — more than 700 items in all.
