The stars are bright at Texas Star Trading
Abilene, TX – If what it means to be a Texan can be defined, the answer, most certainly, can be found in Texas Star Trading Company.
The specialty store, located on the corner of Cypress and North 2nd streets, carries all things Texan, including some things that should be Texan, even if they’re not.
Co-owners Glenn and Carol Dromgoole may not be the first to carve out this particular niche in the market, but the former newspaper reporters (he is a former editor of the Reporter-News) have made it work in downtown Abilene.
It isn’t as if Texas Star Trading Company is the result of some long-term design, the culmination of a life-long dream. Carol, who left the Reporter-News a few years after Glenn retired in 1997, worked as a sales rep for awhile and that experience seemed to have been an inspiration.
“I guess I got the bug to start my own business,” she said.
The first Texas Star Trading Company was located a few blocks down Cypress in a small shop next to the Paramount Theatre. In April 2007, the Dromgooles moved into the location at 174 Cypress and immediately noticed an increase in sales.
