Tring shop to close after 10 yearsBy Victoria WestHemelToday.co.uk

A Tring shop will close its doors for the last time this summer after more than 10 years of trading in the town.

However, the owners of Benellie, a speciality food and gift shop, say they are looking to the future with enthusiasm.

Mel Matthews, co-owner of the store with good friend Deb Grigg, said: “10 years is a long time to do something and we have had so much fun.

“Our lease is due to end. It is time to do something else. There are days when you work on your own and you think, I would like to work with other people or be at home with the children.

“We are both still the best of friends and nothing has gone wrong. We have just decided to take a chance and do something different.”

The duo, who are both mums, plan to spend the school summer holidays at home with their children before embarking on new projects.

Mrs Matthews, who is currently chair of the Tring and District Chamber of Commerce, insisted the decision is not a result of the current ‘credit crunch’ which is having a knock on effect on many shops across the country.
