Summer 2010
The Right Light By Natalie Tan

Your store lights can make or break your walls. Make sure you’re using the right ones for maximum impact.

In our marketing article in this issue of GIFT SHOP, we already looked at how walls can convey your store’s brand image. One of the recommendations was to use lighting to maximum effect. This article shows the do’s and don’ts when it comes to in-store lighting.

Effective track lighting as shown here, allows for highlighting of merchandise. It can also be used to showcase wall art beautifully.

Pot lights as shown here are good at providing ambient lighting but don’t work to highlight specific merchandise. Make sure your wall message or store products are not getting lost because of poor lighting.
