Bookstore Surviving Turbulent Economy
Topeka, KS – Bookstores across the country haven’t fared so well the past few years as the perfect storm of a stagnant economy intersected with the advent of a new dawn of electronic technology.
But a small, independently owned Christian bookstore has weathered not only the tough economy but also a change of location.
Deborah Dawkins, owner of Above All Books and Gifts, located in the Plaza 21 Shops at 2607 S.W. 21st, said her small shop is finding new ways of reaching out to customers both near and far in an era of e-books, Kindles and Nooks, and Internet sales.
