Cash Mob Charlotte Aims to Make Day For Small Business
Charlotte, NC – They came. They spent. They promise to hit again.
They are members of Cash Mob Charlotte. About 30 mobbers, some toting signs urging support of local small businesses, swarmed Atherton Market on South Boulevard one evening last week. Each shopper aimed to spend $20 apiece, buying from market vendors selling fresh produce, roasted nuts, bakery and bath products.
“They just kind of spread themselves out around the market, and spent money and made my vendors very happy,” said Lynn Caldwell, manager of the year-round Atherton Market where vendors sell all locally grown and locally produced goods.
