Couple Opens Antique Shop in Pioneer Log Cabin
Lake Wabaunsee, KS – A couple of years ago, Pam and Craig Mehrhof finished building a pioneer log cabin across the road from their home at Lake Wabaunsee.
The Mehrhofs’ goal was to have the cabin, which has a fireplace, bedroom loft and no modern conveniences, completed by the time Craig retired in a few years from his job as a school psychologist at Seaman Unified School District 345. But building the 16-by-12-foot, white pine cabin didn’t take as long as they anticipated.
“We always wanted to do antiques, and lots of people stop by to look at the cabin,” Pam Mehrhof said. “I thought I would do that in retirement, but my husband said go ahead.”
