Framing expert makes it perfect
Kittery, Maine — Trendy, friendly and delicious are just some of the words to describe what is still one of the Seacoast’s best kept secrets — Wallingford Square. Just over the bridge in Kittery, it is full of eateries, fashion, art and fine papers.
One must-see stop in the Square is D. Pratt Framer, a custom picture framing shop run by David Pratt, who has a passion for framing, nautical maps and keeping things local.
In 2006, D. Pratt Framer opened for business across the street from Papers Ink, a unique paper, card, invitation and gift shop owned by Pratt’s wife, Lori. This past summer, Papers Ink relocated next door to D. Pratt Framer at 11 Wallingford Square.
Now the husband and wife team roam between their two stores, always able to help one another out when necessary.
Pratt has over 20 years of framing experience.
“There is nothing under the sun that someone has brought in and I have not been able to put into a frame,” he said.
Among the items that Pratt has framed is a collection of photos of a grandfather with his grandchildren at various Red Sox games, complete with game tickets. The framed collection was presented to the grandfather as a gift.
“That was a real surprise,” said Pratt. “I heard afterward when he got the gift he was very much touched by that. We wound up doing three for the family.”
