Who would have thought that you could make a profitable business out of wrapping gifts?

Lisa Gleeson did, and 15 years later she is the owner of Lisa’s Gift Wrappers, a specialty retail store in Royal Oak that carries unique gift-wrapping products and provides gift-wrapping services for individual and corporate customers.

Lisa’s Gift Wrappers has creative “wrapping solutions” for bridal, birthday, holiday and special occasions. Its Royal Oak store carries more than 700 ribbon choices, 175-plus styles of wrapping paper, unique gift tags and tie-ons, invitations, cards and other gifts items.

Gleeson spoke with freelance writer Mike Scott about her challenge of taking a business that was run out of her own for 12 years to a retail setting on Woodward Avenue in April 2004.
