Jordanwood, a downtown Grass Valley business specializing in gifts and home decor from Europe and various foreign countries, will be closing its storefront.

Husband-wife team John Johnson and Deanna Jordanwood announced they’ll close their Mill Street shop January 12, but plan to expand operations on their website, www.jordanwood.com

“It was a business decision,” Jordanwood said, adding that “the recession has nothing to do with it.”

After seven years downtown, “We decided the thrust needs to be (online),” she said.

The store features artistic gifts, including journals, handmade glass ornaments, nutcrackers and art with a European flair. Many of the store’s online customers are based on the East Coast or the Bay Area.
