Mother-daughter team keeps boutique runningBy Aisha SultanSTLToday.com

Uzma Quader started her retail business five years ago with a gift shop in Town and Country when her eldest daughter, Zara, was 13 years old. Zara immediately began helping her mother with the store.

Three years ago, they closed the gift store and opened Uzma Q, a clothing and accessories shop for women and tweens. Zara has worked there Saturday mornings and most of the summers since. She will be graduating from John Burroughs High School this year and is headed to Chicago to attend Northwestern University. The two of them talked about what it would be like once Zara leaves, after having worked together throughout her teenage years.

Uzma rushed in late to the interview after a school PTO meeting ran long. She started straightening up clothes around the store.
