Retail sales are up on March 2009
The CBI Distributive Trade Survey has found that retail sales grew for the second month running, with further growth expected throughout the Easter trading period.
39 per cent of retailers said sales volumes in March were higher when compared to the same month last year, while 26 per cent said they were lower. The resulting balance of + 13 per cent is slower than February, which was reported to be 23 per cent according to the survey.
14 per cent of responding retailers said they expected retail sales in April to be higher than they were in 2009.
