Mele – The Family Tradition Continues
UTICA, NY – Mele Companies, Inc. – Mele Companies, Inc. is pleased to announce the appointment of Raymond R. Mele as President of the Mele organization.
Since joining the company in 1982, Raymond has had diverse responsibilities and roles, which included Plant and Sales Management, President of Farrington Packaging and most recently President of the Mele Jewel Box division.
Raymond succeeds Michael J. Valentine, who directed the Mele organization as President since 1985. Michael will continue his support of Mele as Chairman of the Board.
A company rich in family history, Mele is proud to be able to continue under the leadership and direction of a Mele family member. Founded in 1912 by Raymond’s grandfather, Emidio Mele, Mele was later succeeded by his uncle and his father. Their rich history began with the national sales exposure of their Mele Jewelry Box line and since then has diversified with the successful additions of Farrington Packaging in 1961 and Mataflex Flooring in 1975. All three divisions have reached plateaus of growth and success under the leadership of Michael and it is Raymond’s goal to further develop the relationships with their diverse customer base and to continue to cultivate new ones in the years to come in his new role as President of Mele Companies, Inc.
