Jerri Turner, who owns Sweets, Treats & Design, has quite the varied inventory. Along with chocolates, the North End Tacoma boutique offers tea sets, candles, frames and custom work. “We do wedding favors, we do rehearsal dinner favors, we do gift bags for guests,” Turner says.

Of hand lotion. Of chocolate. Of bath gel. Of a candle.

Turner, who opened her Pearl Street boutique in 2005, doesn’t like to buy without trying, and she figures neither do you.

Sweets, Treats & Design has evolved to a 1,500-square-foot space with everything from baby tea sets to soy candles to large bookshelves to glittered signs that read “Sassy” and “Princess,” an eclectic attempt to cater to many tastes.

Custom work is a big part of Turner’s business, which includes private label confections. Daisy-shaped chocolates wrapped in foil at local chain Forza Coffee Co., for example, come from Sweets, Treats & Design. She also does pastel molded chocolates for baby showers and last week made milk chocolate airplanes for the wedding of a groom who works at Boeing.
