Jeffre Scott answer to quest for aesthetics
What is it with women and beauty items? The older we get and the more a brand promises, the more likely we are to buy it.
Haven’t we all gone to CVS or Tarjay (that’s Target for those completely out of the loop) to pick up a prescription or some milk and come out spending at least $40 on miscellaneous items? Shampoo and conditioner promising glossy locks; body lotion touting a gorgeous healthy glow; some cream that will reduce the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles (what about the not-so-fine wrinkles?), not to mention some sort of candle.
What sports do for men, it seems that health and beauty products do for women.
Lucky for us women, we now have yet another option when it comes to our quest for aesthetics – it’s Jeffre Scott Apothecary located in Piper Glen by Trader Joe’s and in the same outbuilding as Starbucks.
This small boutique is brimming with the best of the best when it comes to cosmetics, body products, perfumes, scents for the home, and men’s grooming products.
Scott began in New York City and opened stores here in Charlotte with the addition of Charlotte native Charlton Alicea.
The Piper Glen store is “like a fish bowl,” says Alicea. “We watch people all day long come and go, in and out of the shopping center. You begin to know who the regulars are, especially at Starbucks. After several weeks of watching them, they finally come into our store to see what we’re about.”
Alicea’s warm smile and extensive product knowledge make him approachable, believable and anything but pushy. (Let’s face it, ladies, we’ve all been victims of just the opposite at the cosmetics counter.) He also has quite the touch with make-up application and brow shaping.
Some of the brands at Jeffre Scott Apothecary, 6432 Rea Road, are exclusive. From Blinc (truly innovative mascara), Susan Posnick, Three Custom Color and Wallett, this store prides itself on having hard-to-find items coveted by those in the film and fashion industries.
Some developers of these chic brands stop by the store for special events. Be sure to get on Jeffre Scott’s mailing list to be kept in the loop.
The store is also chock full of the finest in haircare products, body oils and butters as well as having several shelves of exclusive fragrances, providing a little respite from the mundane.
Looking for a unique hostess gift or something for your own home? Scott’s line of candles (Tocca and Red Flower), as well as XELA aroma sticks are sure to be warmly welcomed and much appreciated.

Jeffre Scott Apothecary has all the “swankiness” we want without all of the attitude, and it’s right here in our own back yard. Thank goodness for the little things.
