Dallas offers cost-effective destination, growing resources

(DALLAS) –– Dallas Market Center, the world’s largest wholesale merchandise resource, today announced that the Dallas Total Home & Gift Market taking place January 14-20, 2009 will maximize the number of new resources, information, and events to help retailers thrive over the coming months. New showroom openings and thousands of new product introductions will help prepare retailers for the selling season. In addition, buyers will experience dozens of educational seminars, walking tours, networking opportunities and special events created to educate and to celebrate.

Dallas remains the most cost-effective market destination for visitors with competitive travel specials and hotel rates as low as $99 a night.

In addition to the thousands of new product introductions, January Market will feature several showroom openings and expansions including the new showroom daniel * richards in the Trade Mart (TM 2135). Other new showrooms include: KAM & Company (TM 2331), Lampe Berger (TM 2810), Maharani (TM 2749), Mario & Associates (TM 2731) and Reed & Barton (TM 1204). Enesco moves to the Trade Mart (TM 1600) into a nearly 14,000 square foot showroom. In the World Trade Center (WTC), Department56/Lennox (WTC 409) expands into a 10,000-square- foot space.

The FINDS Dallas Temp Show has grown to almost 600,000 square feet showcasing leading products in: Collegiate FINDS, Design FINDS, Fashion FINDS, Furniture FINDS, Home FINDS, Kid FINDS, Lighting FINDS, Paper FINDS, Red Haute FINDS, and Cash & Carry FINDS. New for January are Christmas & Floral FINDS (formally the Holiday & Home Expo temporaries) and Hill Country FINDS.

“The Next Big Thing” finalists will show their products in FINDS and be judged by trade and consumer press during market. The contest allows up-and-comers to show their product in front of buyers during the January Total Home & Gift Market in a complimentary exhibit space. The winner will be announced on Saturday, January 17 and will win a prize package worth more than $10,000 including exhibit space at the Dallas Total Home & Gift Market FINDS Temp Show, June 26–29, 2009, a feature profile in one of Dallas Market Center’s award-winning custom publications, consultations from leading industry experts regarding branding, public relations, visual merchandising and much more.

The 20th annual ARTS Awards will be held on Saturday, January 17 in The Grand Pavilion at the Trade Mart. The premier awards program for the home decorative accessories industry honors leaders in the field and will pay special tribute to this year’s Academy of Achievement award winner, Murray Feiss, chairman of the board at Generation Brands and a lighting industry leader. January Total Home & Gift Market will offer dozens of educational opportunities for buyers. This year’s keynote seminars include:

“International Christmas Style,” will be presented by Jim Marvin, AIFD, president of Jim Marvin Enterprises, Ltd. on Saturday, January 17 at 2 p.m. in the Hall of Nations, WTC 1. Marvin is one of the world’s most celebrated floral designers and experts in Christmas decorations. Known as “Mr. Holiday,” Marvin travels the world researching, designing and refining the holiday gift, décor and floral collections that he presents to retailers and decorators in his Dallas showroom. He has decorated many prestigious firms in Europe and Japan and designed the Christmas trees for the White House for the past 12 years.

During market Dallas Market Center buyers and exhibitors are invited to join us for a night at the Dallas Museum of Art on Thursday, January 15 to tour the King Tutankhamun and the Golden Age of Pharaohs exhibit. Ticket price includes pre-exhibit food and beverage at the World Trade Center Food Court at 6 p.m., guided instruction through the exhibit, and transportation to and from the Dallas Market Center and the exhibit.
