Duck! Quacker Gift Shop opens store on S. BroadwayBy Paula MooreDenver.BizJournals.com

Rubber-duck seller The Quacker Gift Shop of Englewood has opened its first retail store at 3440 S. Broadway.

Owners Jennifer Brown and Steve Kudron plan to hold an official grand opening for the store on Sept. 26. The store has quietly been open the last few weeks.

“It’s taken 18-hour days to open the store, but it’s incredible,” said Brown. “The City of Englewood helped us put up our sign. We’ve had a lot of help.”

The company buys its ducks from 37 companies, and recently received its first direct order from China — 5,000 ducks. Its stock runs the gamut from plain, classic rubber ducks to CelebriDuck renditions of famous real and fictional people such as Captain Hook from “Peter Pan” and President Barack Obama.

“Obama, Mr. T, the Blues Brothers and [Kiss singer] Gene Simmons are consistent big sellers,” said Brown.
