Woman owns business at 20
Keyport, NJ — Not many would-be entrepreneurs get to plan their own dream store and open it by age 20.
But Ashley Trzeszkowski of Keyport is among those who can say they have.
“Some people call it a gift shop; some call it a novelty store,” said Trzeszkowski, who opened the boutique she calls The Playground in downtown Keyport last November. “That’s my goal, to have things you can’t find anywhere else — a destination where you can find such unusual things.”
Trzeszkowski’s business roots took hold at 6 years of age. Her first pre-adolescent business venture: providing finger nail polish to neighborhood kids.
“I stuck a sign in my front lawn that said “Manicures and pedicures available,’ ” Trzeszkowski said.
As a freshman at Middletown High School South, Trzeszkowski launched her own T-shirt making business.
