Gift store back ‘home’ on South Santa Fe
Forget the buffalo. Their Home on the Range has been roaming around Salina, but co-owner Kristin Kerth said its present location is where it will stay.
Kerth is working with her mother, Gerri Kerth, to stock and run the store at 1311 S. Santa Fe that sells unique gifts, silk floral arrangements and primitives.
The store is open from 10 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. Tuesday through Saturday.
“I just hope I have half the knack that my mom has because she can decorate like no other,” Kristin said.
Gerri said she likes to keep the store full.
“I can really pack it in,” she said. “That’s what I have a talent for is I can pack every crevice.”
Gerri Kerth has run the store for 14 years — while Kristin was still in high school, and then while Kristin went to dental assistant school and spent three years working in a dental office.
The store initially was opened by Gerri’s sister, Sharon Hemmy, as a gift shop at Ranger’s Steakhouse on Broadway Boulevard. It was named Home on the Range as a tie-in with the restaurant and because the store started out featuring Kansas-made products.
When her sister opened a catering business, Gerri took over the store and relocated it to 1311 S. Santa Fe when the restaurant closed.
