Mother-daughter team run Pittsford businesses
New York — Business partners Marie and Nicole Casciani finish each other’s sentences, accidentally wear coordinating outfits the same exact day and fix each other’s hair when it falls in their face. After all, they are mother and daughter.
The pair own and operate Pittsford Wines and Via Girasole, adjoining shops in Schoen Place.
“I couldn’t ask for a better business partner,” said Nicole Casciani, 25, of her mother. “If I were in business with someone else I don’t know how I would do it.”
The two women, who both live in Pittsford, purchased the businesses in February 2009, and while they kept the wine and liquor store virtually the same, they changed the former convenience store next door into Via Girasole, a gourmet food and gift shop.
The store sells an assortment of cheeses, olive oils, spreads, pastas, pastries, beers and more. “We’ve brought in products that reflect the things that interest us, that we believe pair beautifully with the wine but are also convenient so you don’t have to be slaving away over the stove,” said 54-year-old Marie Casciani.
