Boardwalk businesses see holiday boomBy Evan LambertWMBFNews.com

Myrtle Beach, SC – Businesses along the boardwalk in Myrtle Beach say they’ve seen a boom this July 4th weekend as tourists and residents packed the shops and restaurants on the oceanfront.

The boardwalk was filled with people from all over this holiday weekend and they were spending money up and down the city’s newest landmark.

There was no shortage of customers at the Fun Plaza Gift Shop, where Shane Rhodes spent his day helping person after person.

“It’s gonna be busy all day. It was busy yesterday. It’s been busy all week really. I mean I’ve never seen this many people on the beach before around here. This is my second season down here and it’s been packed,” Rhodes said.

Kyle Hamburger and his family are visiting from Oklahoma for the weekend and he predicts he’ll be shelling out the cash to local businesses.

“We certainly plan on it. We’re on vacation so we plan on spending some money buying food and drinks and souvenirs and stuff. So it should be fun,” Hamburger said.

It’s fun for tourists and money in the bank for restaurant owners like Bill Howard.
