NYIGF Trend Programming Receives CEU Certification
New York, NY — The Interior Design Continuing Education Council (IDCEC) has approved two NYIGF trend seminars for continuing education units (CEUs) for members of ASID (American Society of Interior Designers), IDC (Interior Designers of Canada), IDEC (Interior Design Educators Council) and IIDA (International Interior Design Association).
Members of these organizations who attend either of the two sessions – Home Trends – What’s Now? What’s Next? presented by The Trend Curve on Sunday, August 15, at 12:00 Noon, or The Influence of Color presented by IFDA on Monday, August 16, at 9:00 am – can receive 0.1 CEU credits. Credits will be accepted by IDCEC’s four core members – ASID, IDC, IDEC and IIDA – to fulfill membership requirements. For information and registration, visit www.nyigf.com/programs.
NYIGF sought CEU accreditation as part of its ongoing partnership with the New Jersey and New York Metro chapters of ASID (American Society of Interior Designers). As part of the partnership, ASID’s New Jersey and New York Metro chapters will exhibit in booth 40047-49 at Pier 94 during summer 2010 market. ASID members will style the exhibit space, using furnishings provided by At Homeexhibitors, and chapter representatives will distribute information about ASID to market participants. NYIGF exhibitors also are being encouraged to offer “ASID show specials” and group purchase discounts to chapter members to facilitate order-writing during the Fair.
“ASID’s certification requirements ensure that members are trend-setters and thought-leaders in interior design,” said Dorothy Belshaw, NYIGF director and GLM senior vice president. “We’re delighted to continue a partnership that welcomes professional interior designers to market and incents them to do business with NYIGF designers and manufacturers.”
ASID is a professional association of interior design professionals who must pass rigorous acceptance standards: a combination of accredited design education and/or full-time work experience. Professional members must also pass a two-day accreditation exam administered by NCIDQ (National Council for Interior Design Qualification).
Founded in 1975, ASID is comprised of more than 40,000 members in the U.S. and Canada, including practicing interior designers, design students and industry representatives. For more information, visit ASID’s New Jersey chapter (www.njasid.org) and New York Metro chapter (www.asidnymetro.org).
