Local stores report successful holiday sales seasonBy Curt Casper

The National Retail Federation originally estimated holiday retail sales would grow by 2.3 percent this year. But the experts weren’t even close.

Retailers are reporting their best holiday season in 5 years reporting a 5.5% growth.

“I actually love any of this stuff right here,” said Erin Cooper.

The Christmas shopping season may be over, but don’t tell that to Erin Cooper. She is still shopping.

She’s out today taking advantage of post Christmas sales. Her family is planning to have Christmas this Friday.

“If people are spending more money, that’s them. Me, it all depends on how much I have,” said Cooper.

It seems the money people have is more than last year. Allen’s Superstore in Hastings said they’ve seen a double digit increase in holiday shopping.

That’s double the national average.
