Rocketship: Shop Local, Invest In Des Moines’ Future
A few weeks ago, a friend working on a film project for her Drake honors class put me in front of the camera to explain why I chose Des Moines as the home base from which to launch schemes.
After a few moments I remembered the root of the decision: As a fresh college grad, I felt Des Moines had a flavor all its own.
The city seems to harbor more eccentrics, more foodies, more homebrewers, more people with fascinating passions, than other cities in the Midwest. I’m quite familiar with Omaha, and believe me when I tell you: What Des Moines lacks in population and money it makes up for in character.
