Best Sellers in Missoula, Montana By Madison Dapcevich

Here’s a look at gift retail in Montana’s Garden City.

With a population of over 100,000, Missoula is the second largest city in the state and home to the University of Montana. The metropolitan area boasts concerts, art shows and a weekly farmer’s market. While the downtown is art-driven, an outdoor’s enthusiasts dream is within minutes of the city center. Locals and tourists alike enjoy outdoor activities such as hiking, mountain-biking, skiing, kayaking, rafting, fishing and golfing to name a few.

Missoula embraces local artisans and boasts some of the most creative talent in the West. Higgins Avenue in downtown Missoula has a wide array of boutiques and gift shops that support local artists.

Whether one is interested in sampling wine at an art gallery or decides to mountain bike through the Rattlesnake Wilderness, Missoula is a city like no other.

House

Two years ago, Leslie Largay and Nicole Hagerman felt downtown Missoula had a need for a contemporary furniture and accessories store. One year later, in 2009, House opened its doors.

The store’s concept is simple, strong and sustainable inventory. Traditional Western décor is avoided however local products are stocked whenever they can be.

With access to over 100 vendors both local and nationwide, House allows clients to custom order their own interior design elements.
