The Peanut Shop

Stepping into The Peanut Shop, visitors are greeted by an array of enticing aromas—from the smell of sweet potpourri to exotic spices. Just inside, an entire wall is lined with tins of gourmet peanuts. In addition to traditional flavors, the store stocks some fun varieties including Spicy Cajun Style and Bloody Mary.

Owner Kathleen Hess often walks the store, past the carefully stacked displays of fudges and gourmet candies, and greets customers personally. Hess describes her hands-on approach as “friendly and outgoing,” a style that resonates with her customers, many of whom give the store plenty of repeat business.

Hess says the store carries quality merchandise—a factor important to its success. Equally important, she says, is the policy of always listening to the customer and adapting to their needs. In keeping with this philosophy, customers are offered the option of creating their own gift baskets.
