Best Sellers in Portland, Oregon By Marta Drevniak

The Arrangement

This beautiful boutique was once a gas station—the transformation fueled by visionary store owner Sue Mautz.

Initially, Mautz got her start building floral arrangements and creating handmade holiday decor at Portland’s famous Saturday Market. After acquiring a following she found that it was time to open a retail space to satisfy the blossoming demand.

Thirty years later, The Arrangement has become a fixture on NE Fremont Street—a popular shopping thoroughfare in Portland’s well-established Beaumont-Wilshire neighborhood.

The boutique is a place where friends, neighbors, and even Mautz’s longtime staff members unexpectedly bump into each other and get the chance to catch up.

In many ways, the store remains a service station of sorts today. Shoppers finding themselves on “E” can stop in to fill up with treasures—greeting cards, jewelry, candles—for their loved ones and pick up a smile for the road.
