Becky Brown Dyer, owner of Pat’s Hallmark in Blairsville, GA, frequently attends Atlanta Market for the variety of products, new and upcoming trends and for the overall experience of the market.

“While at Atlanta Market, I shopped for anything new and exciting that caught my eye. I also purchased several variations of tumblers that are ‘all the rage’ right now. One of the most exciting product lines I came across were animal tracking bracelets from Fahlo,” Dyer said.

Dyer has had experience in both online and in-person retail. While tackling an online presence is sometimes difficult, Dyer feels it is a necessary feat in order to be the most successful.

“I feel that an online presence is a must for the future, even if that presence is simply social media. You must be able to learn how to sell online and explore all avenues of sales,” Dyer said.

Dyer believes many product categories will do well this year including all-natural skin and beauty products, entertainment, gardening and birthstone jewelry.

Dyer’s best insight into upcoming trends in 2023:

Fashion

“I think you will be seeing more of an early-to-mid ‘90s look such as big button-up shirts, loafers with big, thick soles, heels that are big and chunky, skater jeans with no rips and ballet flats, to name a few,” Dyer said.

Accessories

According to Dyer, many purses are being transformed into crossbody bags, no matter the size. Birthstone jewelry is also making a comeback — worn to represent school colors or as a fashion piece.

Gifts

“I am seeing lots of small gifts that have quickly become popular early this year, as customers are forced to stretch their dollars,” Dyer said. “Items like little tokens, bookmarks, drink mixes and anything that can fit inside a card seem to be everywhere.”

Gardening and home décor

Dyer saw mushrooms in every product category at the market — ranging from various gifts, accessories and to home décor.

“Honey-themed items seem to be very popular, as well. Honey pots used to be difficult to find, but I have seen them in several showrooms,” Dyer said. “Honeycomb is a pattern that seems to have taken off from this trend, as I am seeing it in everything from vases to Christmas ornaments.”

When shopping Atlanta Market, Dyer is always busy with appointments, which ultimately helps organize her activities and helps best prioritize what to shop for at Market.

“I am always booked solid with my regional sales rep appointments. I rely heavily upon their knowledge of the trends, what’s selling and where I need to put new versus reorder dollars,”  Dyer said. “I do like to walk through the temporaries, but I also know that if a product line is hot, one of the showrooms will likely be snatching it up soon.”

From emerging new businesses to big-name brands, you’ll always find thousands of lines across all product categories at Atlanta Market. This variety gives you more options and opportunities to expand your product mix.

Showrooms: Tuesday, July 11–Monday, July 17, 2023   |   Temporaries: Wednesday, July 12–Sunday, July 16, 2023
