About Mark Weinstein

In 1957, Weinstein began working for his father at Federal Salvage and Supply in St. Louis where he had a hard time seeing the scrap metal as mere “junk.” He found interesting shapes and designs everywhere he looked. It was then Weinstein began experimenting with different welding techniques. He spent the next two years welding textured, metal sculptures in a shed in the corner of his father”s scrap metal yard.

Shortly after he sold his first piece, Weinstein received orders at a slow, but steady, rate until a furniture sales person spotted his sculptures hanging in a store and asked if he could carry his artwork. Weinstein’s sculptures were used to accessorize the sales person’s walls of a furniture show in Chicago, which led to manufacturer representatives from all over the country inquiring about selling his art.

In 1967, Weinstein launched Marc Creates, Inc. and found the demand for his metal sculptures was quickly outgrowing his shed, located in the corner of his father”s scrap yard. In need of a full-time production facility and showroom, Weinstein rented a building in downtown St. Louis. By the early 1970s, Marc Creates. Inc. was producing metal sculptures and furniture, shipping thousands of pieces of art throughout the world.

Today, Marc Creates, Inc.’s multi-dimensional, metal sculptures can be found around the globe; they have been spotted on TV shows, in restaurants and thousands of homes and offices.

Mark Weinstein’s designs, along with other original company sculptures, can be seen inside the Artisan House showroom in Las Vegas, July 29 – August 2, 2013 [World Market Center, Ste. B-354] and High Point, October 19-24, 2013 [IHFC Design Center, Space D426].
