Atlanta Apparel readies for two August markets
Atlanta Apparel will stage its August fashion markets with a focus on showroom-based buying, implementation of safety procedures and curated digital programming reported International Market Centers (IMC). World of Prom & Social Occasion runs Aug. 3-7, 2020 and August Atlanta Apparel runs Aug. 4-8, 2020 at AmericasMart Atlanta.
“The Atlanta Apparel shows in August will be a reflection of our industry’s ‘new normal’ with comprehensive showroom resources adapted for safer buying and selling during the pandemic,” said Bob Maricich, CEO for IMC.
World of Prom & Social Occasion
This show will be presented from 9:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. Aug. 3-7, 2020. The 2020 staging of the annual national prom, pageant and social occasion market is the first market for social occasion and bridal buyers during the COVID-19 crisis, with winter and spring seasons marked more by social distancing than by social occasions. It is also the debut of the market’s updated name, World of Prom & Social Occasion, which more accurately reflects the range of product categories shown at the market.
“Despite disruptions to the selling season this year, World of Prom & Social Occasion is, as always, the industry’s premier formal fashion buying event where buyers find the styles and product their customers need,” noted Dave Savula, executive vice president, president of gift and apparel leasing for IMC. “As the first buying opportunity this year, brands are using World of Prom & Social Occasion to provide retailers with the product mix – best sellers and immediate delivery options as well as new styles – needed for success during recovery.”
The majority of AmericasMart’s social occasion showrooms will be open during the August market showcasing both new introductions and best sellers in prom, pageant and Quinceañera styles. Select showrooms also will showcase bridal collections. Joining in August is Sophia Thomas Designs, a retail brand that launches its wholesale business in a new showroom, and Adore, a trend-driven bridal line by Justin Alexander, which has its debut at the market. As previously announced by IMC, the usual temporaries presentation shown in The Collective will not take place this market.
August Atlanta Apparel
The August Atlanta Apparel Market is open from 9:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. Aug. 4-7, 2020 and from 9L00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. on Aug. 8, 2020.
The August 2020 Atlanta Apparel Market will take place exclusively in 300+ showrooms with 1,000+ men’s, women’s and children’s lines presented. The temporary exhibits have been suspended for the August market based on recent developments and guidelines related to the COVID-19 pandemic.
“Our apparel and accessories showrooms have expertly adapted to meet the needs of buyers during this time,” adds Savula. “From enacting their own safety protocols, to taking on new accounts to exploring new ways to showcase trends and best sellers, they are dedicated to presenting a market that best serves retailers at this time.”
Men’s and women’s brands will show new looks for Holiday, Resort and Winter 2020 plus Fall 2020 Immediates and GameDay. The August market also marks the debut of Spring / Summer 2021 children’s styles.
Virtual Programming Augments Product Resources
As part of the safety adaptations, digital programming replaces in-person events for both August markets. Timely educational programming will be presented virtually throughout the week and available on-demand, giving retailers the opportunity to tune in whenever and wherever they wish. Topics include:
- How Influencers Fit into Your Marketing Strategy
- Marketing Your Retail Business in This Crazy New World
- A Conversation About Diversity in Retail
- What Makes Full-Service Brick and Mortar Specialty Stores Relevant Will Never Change
Additionally, the Atlanta Apparel Instagram is the hub of information with helpful content presented each day including Fashion Insider videos with tips for market from veteran retailers and influencers.
Pre-registration is required for the August Atlanta Apparel Market and World of Prom & Social Occasion at AmericasMart.com/Registration. One digital badge gives buyer access to both shows.
All market attendees are expected to follow IMC’s Together Safely protocols including wearing a mask and observing social distancing requirements while on campus. The full Together Safely plan is available at TogetherSafely.com.
